About our Kiwanis club

The Kiwanis Club of Merrick was founded on March 31, 1949 and has grown to become one of the most active community service organization in the Merricks.  We currently have over 40 members who represent a cross-section of the community.  The Merrick Club is one of 17 clubs that comprise the Long Island South Central Division of Kiwanis, a part of the New York District made up of over 250 clubs in New York State.  Worldwide membership in Kiwanis International is greater than 250,000 member Kiwanians in more than 9000 clubs in over 80 countries.

Our Club is governed by a group of Officers and a Board of Directors.  The membership elects these officials for a term of one year beginning each October 1st.  We are subject to the Bylaws established by Kiwanis International and also those established by the Club.  The Board makes all decisions regarding Club policy and procedures and is the body that decides all projects, expenditures, community service and youth sponsorship.

The Board of Directors meets once a month and all members are encouraged to attend and participate at Board Meetings. Discussion on all items is open to all members attending. Voting is limited to Officers and Board Members.
